MSCA Statement (2018 Scholastic Championship)

Published on: 2018-04-02

The MSCA board has determined that a player, who participated in the K-12 High School Championship section of the Minnesota State Scholastic Chess Championship, committed unsportsmanlike conduct to the tournament directors and the MSCA. The tournament directors made a ruling, which the player accepted, that made the player ineligible for individual prizes. The MSCA board unanimously upheld the tournament directors’ authority in this matter on March 25, 2018.

The unsportsmanlike conduct was to a relatively small audience but quickly spread to a large audience in a very short time. The MSCA encourages its members to be proactive in protecting their children on social media.
