2014 Minnesota Open

The Minnesota Open and Curt Brasket Memorial was conducted this past weekend. IM  John Bartholomew took the honors with a perfect 5-0 record and defeated current state champion Sean Nagle along the way.  A more complete report and article will follow along with the list of qualifiers for the Minnesota State Championship playoffs (March 14-16, at the Castle Chess Club).

Minnesota Open Champion: John Bartholomew (5 - 0)

Minnesota Open Amateur Champion: (tie) Ethan Hunt and Elliott Tong (4.5 - 0.5)

Minnesota Open Reserve Champion: (tie) Ben Vaaler, Briam Billman, Zane Winston (5-1)

Minnesota Open Sophomore Champion: Caleb Dettmer (5.5 - 0.5)

Minnesota Open Bantram Champion: Joseph Thompson (6 - 0)

Non-rated Beginners: (tie) Kursten Poulsen, Logan Oglesby, Zheliang Zhu, Dean Ringel (4 - 1)

Sunday Tornado: (tie) Ron Decker, Doug Olson (3.5 - 0.5)
